Controller - Memphis

Job Description:

Exciting opportunity for a Controller with at least 7 years experience.​ Position reports to CEO, member of Senior staff, serves as Board Secretary, responsible for communications with Board of Directors.​

Position entails: analysis and preparation of daily, monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements by departments; analysis of financial statements for trends, accounting errors; analysis of internal controls for weaknesses and establishing and maintaining sound internal controls; analysis of accounting systems problems and recommending solutions; daily reconciliations of P&L to general ledger, making adjusting entries and determining how transactions should be accounted for; communication with internal auditors, regulatory auditors and external auditors; answering technical questions and providing requested financial information.​ Potential for promotion to CFO.​

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Input and review entries to the general and statistical ledgers to assure accuracy and compliance with established accounting principles and procedures
  • Review of budget reports and preparation of capital, expense, and activity budgets for departments.​
  • Preparation of financial and statistical reports as required.​
  • Coordination and preparation for audits.​
  • Development of financial policies and procedures.​
  • Establishment and monitoring of internal controls to assure proper compliance.​
  • Recruitment of personnel and evaluation personnel under own supervision.​
  • Perform other duties as assigned, potentially owning HR function.​

Required Skills/​Experience:

  • CPA
  • 7-10 years accounting experience; 5 years as a manager.​
  • Experience at an early-stage company a plus.​ Experience at a technology firm a plus.​
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.​
  • Established track record of planning, leading and growing organizations.​
  • Successful experience leading change, instituting new processes, and driving growth.​

2) Ownership of Banking Relationship/​Cash Management
- transfers b/​t Sweep and Checking account
- manage petty cash account/​cards
- conduct monthly bank reconciliations
- negotiations and management of potential loans and capital equipment leases

3) Ownership of Quarterly Investor Information Requests

4) Creation and Implementation of Internal Controls/​Policies

6) Analysis of Monthly Actuals vs.​ Projections

Record Review Specialist – Memphis

Job Description:

Verified Person Inc., a background screening and verification company in downtown Memphis, is hiring a criminal record review specialist. Duties include: completing criminal background verifications and record reviews as well as communicating with clients and applicants via phone and email.

The ideal candidate would be a motivated self-starter and multi-tasker. Other important factors include a history of quality customer service, good interpersonal skills and knowledge of the criminal court system.

Candidates with experience in the employment screening, human resources or legal fields and a degree in criminal justice are preferred. Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft computer programs and intermediate level of computer proficiency
  • Must be highly organized, resourceful and have a strong attention to detail

Verification Specialist – Memphis

Job Description:

Verified Person is looking for a Verification Specialist for its Memphis, Tenn., office. Verification Specialists are responsible for verifying pre-employment information. The information is gathered by contacting employers, educational facilities, licensing board registries, and personal or professional references. This position is also responsible for researching telephone numbers and other ways for verifying information.

Required Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Two years experience in a customer service role or one year in call center environment.
  • Must be able to type 35 words per minute and have strong data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, gather and assess information in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are essential to the success of this position.
  • Able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines and goals.
